- Avoid body’s stressors: smoking, alcohol, coffee, addictives, chemicals, drugs, dairy products (galactose has been linked to increased risk of ovarian cancer), sugar and refined carbohydrates;
- Increase water intake;
- Increased fiber intake;

Liver Detoxification: Principles and Protocols

1. The first step in liver detoxification approach is to remove dietary, environmental, and lifestyle stressors (as much as possible; by stressors we mean smoking, alcohol, coffee, environmental toxins, etc.);
2. The second step is to improve the diet; avoid all liver dietary stressors, and increase intake of fruits, vegetables, legumes, fish and nuts; do not forget increased water intake; do use the foods that have been listed above;
3. Employ a very simple and effect method: lemon water cleanse. Use a glass of pure, room temperature water in which you squeeze a few drops of fresh lemon juice (lime juice is as good). Drink it first thing in the morning. Wait for 30 minutes before you eat or drink anything else. Do not take any vitamins or other pills with your lemon water, and do not squeeze the lemon in fruit juice. The reason behind this cleanse is that the liver accumulates toxins in bile overnight, and the lemon juice stimulates gall bladder contractions, allowing the bile to flow into the duodenum (start with a few drops of lemon juice only); patient/client may experience effects of detoxification.
4. Dandelion root tea greatly supports liver detoxification; dandelion leaf tea will support the kidneys detoxification. Milk thistle tea for regeneration of the liver tissue.
5. Other measures: lymphatic drainage; by rubbing the outside of the thighs (helps drainage from the large intestine); rubbing the inside of the thigh will stimulate the drainage of small intestine;
6. Epsom salts or sea salt and baking soda baths are helpful for detoxification.

 In the study, subjects who had been frequently exposed to laser light had shown a significant increase in their hair density over a 26 week period then those who were not exposed to the laser. No one suffered any side effects. Subjects had also shown a greater number of re-grown hairs than the subject in the placebo group. Hair Loss Prevention
The 3 styles that damage your hair the most are:

1. tight pony tail
2. using curlers
3. braiding

All these styles pull on the hair from the root and exacerbate the reasons women experience hair loss. Dr. Oz said that if you have some thicker hairs and some thinner hairs, then this is usually a sign of genetic balding in women.  Male pattern baldness in women can often be related to testosterone or diet related. Normal hair loss is between 50 to 75 strands per day; if you are losing more than this amount, it is sign that there may be an underlying condition.

The 4 most common types of female hair loss:

(a) Female pattern hair loss – this is a permanent, and often genetic, form of hair loss

(b) Telogen effluvium – this type of hair loss is temporary and occurs suddenly, most often after a significant illness, emotional stress or pregnancy.

(c) Traction alopecia – bald patches that occur due to repeated use of the above listed hairstyles.

(d) Anagen effluvium – this is the name given for a very specific type of temporary hair loss caused by chemotherapeutic drugs.

Causes of Hair Loss
1. Poor nutrition – inadequate protein and iron can cause hair loss
2. Medications – certain drugs, like those used to treat gout, arthritis and heart problems can cause hair loss
3. Diseases – like diabetes and lupus
4. Hormonal changes – pregnancy, childbirth, the discontinuation of birth control pills and menopause can all trigger some hair loss
